The minion cannot seem to grasp the concept of holidays and sleeping in. Woken up early again and forced to go out of the bedroom.

Went for the first run of 2016. Felt good, legs aren’t overly tired. Just need to take it slow and get back into running. Goals are to run in the Run4kids in March, RunMelbourne in July, Melbourne Marathon in October and City2Sea in November.

Got woken up before 7 because the Minion wanted a slipper. Did not know where the slipper was until he pointed to the top shelf of the open wardrobe where one lonely wool sock had caught his eye. Unfortunately there was only the one sock and I could not find the other one even after I had emptied the whole shelf.
Had to look through the Kid’s shelves and found another pair of socks before he would calm down but by then he was ready to go out of the bedroom.

The stork is coming.

I wrote this in 2007. It is more relevant now.

As the sun dies, birthing the night,
Darkness reigns without the presence of light,
Except for the little beacon high up in the skies,
Flapping his long wings, onward he flies.

He lights up an otherwise dismal night.
He makes all the wrongs into a right.
As we await his impending arrival
With a cargo essential for our survival.

We have been waiting so long for this
Precious cargo, this bundle of bliss.
This answer to our prayers, this light
For which we have and will continue to fight.

There is still sometime till the coming
But the bees have already started humming.
The flowers are already in full bloom
And we know that he will be here soon.

It's almost November and I am woefully unprepared. So many things to do, so very little time to do them in.

I wanted to plan out every little thing for the month but this is made difficult by the fact that I absolutely hate planning. I can see its benefits but plans have a tendency to not follow through. And I tend to tear out what little hair I have left when things don't go according to plan. I have found that my scalp is quite grateful when I take things as they come, fly by the seat of my pants and play it by ear. It is easier to shrug off things that are unplanned.

In addition to daily work, I am taking part in a 14k fun run, trying to write a 50,000 word novel as part of the National Novel Writing Month, preparing for a test that would determine a big part of the rest of my life and that one other thing that is going to happen in December.

This will be fun.

The hardest thing in the world is waiting.

Waiting for that application to be processed. It took a while to gather all the documents you needed and to have them certified. It took even longer to get the correct photos and to have your identity verified. And then as you get ready to post the application you find out that you can apply online, so after banging your head on your desk for a half hour, you do just that. And then it is out of your hands. And so you wait.

Waiting for that book to be delivered. You know you wanted that book as soon as you heard that she was writing it. But you decide to wait till the paperback comes out as you don't like hardcovers much. But then you see her being interviewed on the TV and just like that your mind is made up and you find that you had ordered the book before the interview is finished. The website tells you that it has been dispatched two days later but it also tells you that it could take seven to ten working days before you get it. And so you wait.

Waiting for that certain someone to come into your life. You have been teased for so long but you haven't lost hope. You know it could go wrong but you know you have to cope as you have done too many times before. The end is almost in sight. And so you pray. And so you wait.

Waiting is the hardest thing in the world.

I do sometimes get the urge to take pics of what I am currently eating and then post them onto Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram or one of the other social websites where you upload and share pictures. But then I manage to put the urge into a box, put the lid on, lock it , throw away the key, dig a hole, put the box in the hole, fill the hole with concrete, erect a ten storey building on top and blow the whole thing down to the ground.

The internet is a black hole.
It sucks you in and doesn't let go.
You start at one end,
Following a thread until it splits into two
And sometimes even more.
Before you know it,
It is one in the morning
And you are full of regrets.
